CHARACTER: Name: Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Foster
Age: 25
D.O.B.: January 31, 1984
Place of Birth: Obsidian City
Physical Description:
A beautiful woman, both inside and out, Charlotte practically radiates those warm and fuzzy feelings in others direction, if only by flashing them one of her brilliant, large smiles – one she’s wearing more often than not. Blonde hair that falls in a gentle curl against her shoulders frames a face that usually wears the minimal amount of makeup needed to make those aquamarine eyes of hers sparkle, even though they do that on their own without even a drop of mascara or even the faintest line from an eye pencil. Her lips are usually only painted with a layer of gloss, and if they’re colored at all, it’s a warm shade of pink. The beauty mark on her forehead, right beside her right eyebrow, is something that catches a lot of people’s attention when they first look at her, and while it used to bother her, and she used to think it was ugly, she’s grown quite fond of it. It makes her unique, and she kind of likes it now.
She’s effortlessly pretty – a natural beauty who doesn’t feel the need to be gussied up just to go to work, or take a walk down the sidewalk. She’ll dress up when it’s required, but most of the time you can find her in a skirt and a nice blouse, usually with a pair of flats since she’s so tall. She stands at 5’10”, and feels self conscious when she manages to tower over a man just because she’s wearing heels…and even when she’s standing flat on her feet, it always made her feel less feminine whenever a man would have to stretch his neck up just to kiss her. She actually jokes about being ‘beastly’ in size, but she sure as hell isn’t built like a linebacker or anything. She’s slender in build, but her frame is lacking curves when it comes to her waist. See, Charlotte doesn’t really have hips, but she makes up for it when it comes to the curves of her breasts and rear, making her feel much more feminine. If it wasn’t for her boobs and ass, she’d probably feel like a boy. Her legs seem to go on for miles, and she also has a tall torso and long arms…making her look very, very awkward when she was a teenager.
Thank God she grew out of that.
Personality:
You know those people – the ones who can tell when someone upset, and always tries to cheer them up/usually always succeeds? Charlotte is one of those people. She’s bright, and bubbly, and has a sharp, witty and intelligent sense of humor. She’ll make a complete fool out of herself if it means putting a smile on someone’s face, and also has the patience to sit down and act the role of ‘therapist’ if the situation calls for it. She’s an excellent listener, and usually knows the right thing to say.
Another thing about Charlotte is her knack for ‘hanging with the guys’. Now, she isn’t one of those girls who cling onto every man she sees, flirting and batting her eyelashes, giggling at their stupid jokes or squeaking and telling them to ‘stop that!’ whenever they make a pass at her. No, no, no…Charlotte is the girl who’s always welcomed by groups of men, because of her ability to talk sports, and handle their twisted sense of humor. ( Hey, she had 2 older brothers who she idolized as a little girl. )She’s also the person who will punch you in the face if you try to slip her hand up her skirt without her giving you the go ahead. She won’t lead anyone on unless she’s actually interested, or at least not intentionally.
Despite being all about talking and playing sports, she still has her girl moments. For example, she’ll cry at sad movies, and likes to cuddle on the couch. She likes having those days where she sits inside, doing nothing but watch old Cary Grant movies, eating an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting. She doesn’t enjoy going out to big party scenes, unless you take her to a bar, or some place where she can just…be herself. She has more male friends than female, so that isn’t really a problem for her, and the women she is friends with are usually very down to earth. She doesn’t handle her booze very well, which means she’s usually designated driver – and when she isn’t, she usually doesn’t drink anything too heavy. It’s beer, a mixed drink, or one of those fruity girl cocktails that she’s actually a little embarrassed to admit she loves.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
History:
It was a cold winter night, when Charlotte Foster was born, but it was clear and beautiful – a rarity for Obsidian nights, which are usually coated in a sheet of rain, or even a blanket of snow that ended up as slush on the sidewalk. Her parents held their beautiful little girl in their arms, while their 2 boys, both 3 at the time (identical twins), peered curiously at their new little sister. They made a pact the day she was born, that they were going to be the best older brother’s in the world, and held pretty true to that over the years, as pretty little Charlotte grew up.
By the time the girl was old enough to walk, all she ever wanted to do was go to where the boys were. She detested being held, unless she was too tired to walk (but that was so rare), and loved playing things like hide and seek, even before she knew the true concept of the game. She would sit on one of the boys’ laps and watch baseball, football, boxing, wrestling, hockey – whatever sport they were watching at the time, and would clap and cheer whenever they would (again, not fully understanding why at such a small age), but grew up to truly appreciate the athletes she watched over the years. Fits were thrown when her team would lose, and celebrations were in order when they won, talking a mile a minute about what plays had been made, the good and the bad.
Being able to talk ‘boy talk’ allowed her to tag along with her older brothers whenever they went anywhere, and even though she was younger and was, in fact, a female, the boys they hung out with never really seemed to care, since she kept up with them better than some of the males they knew. She was just ‘Little Foster’ to them – the only girl that didn’t care about getting dirty, and the only girl who wanted to play games with them when the other girls complained about dirtying their dress or getting their knees scraped. She was actually a natural athlete, it turned out, and it was just another reason for the boys to be impressed with the young girl whenever she scored a goal, or made a basket, or hit a home run.
Years went by, and Charlotte was just ‘one of the guys’ as far as their brothers were concerned. The only thing about her that reminded them that she was a girl sometimes was the fact that she loved to bake, something neither one of them ever took an interest in. It was one of the few things she and her mother were able to do that allowed them to have ‘girl time’, aside from curling up on the couch together to watch an old movie. They were always able to tell when she was upset though, when they came home and there were about 10 trays of cookies laying around the kitchen. Because she didn’t have many girl friends to confide in, and didn’t like talking about her problems in general, she put her energy into baking instead, always finding it therapeutic.
As Charlotte grew up, it was difficult for her brothers to handle the changes her body was making – she began to develop breasts, and she was so tall, and she had curves, and she even started wearing dresses and her skirts got just a little bit shortee; all things that made the boys who used to look at her as ‘one of the guys’ do a double take when she walked in the room – but this was after she passed that incredibly awkward stage that had taken place all throughout middle school. When she got to high school, she was still the same girl on the inside, but…the outside had changed considerably. Even though she shared a lot of interests with men, she was still a woman.
The older boys who were friends with her brothers, as well as the boys her own age who had befriended her in school, started flirting with her and asking her out on dates, something that caused some problems between the boys and her protective older brothers…but she just laughed at the idea when she knew them too well, and wasn’t afraid to let them know just how disinterested she was by giving them a knee to the groin, or a smack to the face when they thought ‘no’ was just her way of playing hard to get.
It was when she was in her sophomore year of high school that she decided exactly what it was she wanted to do with her life – for a time, she thought she could be the first female coach in the NFL or something outrageous like that, but after she met Rambo, a 7 year old seeing eye dog, she knew she wanted to be a vet. See, Rambo had been brought into her high school for a presentation, and it had been explained that the poor Golden Retriever had suffered from a rare disease found in dogs, and that he probably would have been dead if it wasn’t for the vet who found it and treated it. She began to think about just how much this dog meant to the blind man on stage, and how if it wasn’t for Vets, he’d probably be without such a trustworthy companion.
She made it a point to speak with the man after the assembly, and learned the whole story about how he had been instructed to give up Rambo, because there didn’t seem to be hope for him, but he just kept on hanging in there. The story touched her heart, and she ran to the library that day to read up about the disease that had almost taken Rambo away. She was so fascinated by all of it, and did her best to keep her grades up in school so she could go to veterinary school. She wasn’t at the top of her class, and she was an average student (not because she didn’t try, she just had trouble with history, which brought her GPA down), so she made it into a fairly decent college. Still going for her schooling, Charlotte was able to get herself a position at the local shelter as a veterinary technician, and works her hardest to prove that she has a right to be there just as much as the next person. No one can say she isn’t passionate about what she does, and if they do, than they really don’t know Charlotte.
Special Skills/Abilities: ASL - Charlotte has known sign language since she was 8 years old, taking an interest in it after watching someone do it on television when she was younger. She liked the shapes the woman's hands made, finding them to be very beautiful and elegant, and wanted to learn.
Personal Weaknesses: Unorganized - As much as Charlie would love to claim that she can always find any thing at any time, this is far from the truth. The only time she resembles being an organized person is when she’s at work, and even then, 9/10 times she can’t find her pen, or forgot where she put something down. When it really matters, like when it comes to a prescription or a file, she’ll keep close tabs on these things, but in every day life, it’s a miracle if she can find her phone in her cluttered back when it’s ringing.
Multi-tasking - Again, not one of her strong suits. She’s become much better at it over the years, because in her line of work it’s a requirement to be able to do more than one thing at the same time – answer phones, write things down, etc. – but she still finds herself getting flustered when people are telling her to do 80 things at the same time. Usually she has to put a phone on hold to finish writing out a note, scribbling it down so quickly that it’s hardly legible, and will then pick up the phone once she’s finished so her head doesn’t explode.
Getting attached to things - She finds herself forming close bonds with all the animals, from iguanas to horses, that come into the clinic. Whenever they can be helped, and they go home healthy, she feels extremely proud of herself and gives them back to her owner with a beaming smile – it’s the best feeling in the world, and exactly why she got into the profession in the first place. The only problem is that when she gets too close, it’s extremely difficult for her to let go when she needs to. She finds herself needing to take a small break, just to recompose herself, and never ceases to cry whenever an animal needs to be put down – almost like it were one of her own. She tries her hardest to form a thicker shell, and knows that she can’t save all the animals, but it’s very difficult for her. She has too big of a heart to not care. She also gets very attached to people, as well as some of her possessions, which is part of the reason she's so unorganized. It's not that she's a hoarder, but it takes an outside source to tell her to 'throw that away' before she'll part with a stupid little trinket she doesn't need.
Personal Strengths: Handles stress well: Some people feel the urge to punch walls, or punch people when they’re stressed or upset, but for Charlotte Foster, her aggravations and woes go into baking delicious, delicious goods: pies, cookies, muffins, cakes – you name it, and Charlotte probably has one or more (always more) piled up on her countertop on a bad day. There have been times when she hasn’t had any available space for anything but pastries, since sometimes she even uses her kitchen table as a spot to store all the treats she made.
Likes: Ice cream, old movies, girly drinks, playing/watching sports (all), singing, having fun, laughing, burgers, Chinese food, steak
Dislikes: Wearing heels, dressing up, being freakishly tall, dancing (in front of people),
